Accommodation
Finding accommodation
D.J.M. Personnel has a number of affordable teacher houses available. These are in great demand. If there is no available accommodation in any of these houses when you arrive, or if these houses are not in the location of your choice, we offer advice and support so that you find accommodation that suits you!
Here are some web sites and contact numbers to help you find the accommodation you want, at the price you can pay!
The Gum Tree
www.thegumtree.com
A friendly and useful web site started by people who have lived in the UK and who know first hand how it feels to look for a place to live. The site allows couples or single people to choose flats to share for long or short term lets. The site is updated daily.
Loot
www.loot.com
Loot is a Quattro-weekly paper designed to help people advertise second hand items, services and accommodation. Loot.com is the web version of the paper. It is difficult to navigate sometimes, but it is extremely useful and has the largest selection of flats in the UK. It also helps you search for flats by cost and location. The listings however are 2 days old. For a small fee, you can gain access to most recent listings.
TNT
www.tntmag.co.uk
TNT is a traveller's magazine that lists accommodation and some of the best travel deals around. It is a free magazine that can be picked up outside most major tube/British Rail stations. It is a great magazine to find other information such as cheap travel, cultural events and brief news and sports information from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.
Things to Consider:
- If you choose to look for accommodation either alone or with friends, you will pay a bond or deposit for the property. This should be no more than one month's rent in advance.
- You will sign a lease which normally runs for 6-12months.
- Read the small print to know what you are or are not responsible for while living at the property.
