Snow in London!

January 2010 can be summed up in these words:

Snow More snow And still more snow

London has never seen such snow in over 30 years

For those of you keen to teach in the first 2 weeks of the Spring Term in January there was unprecedented upheaval with the snow causing schools to close and the transport systems in London to come to a grinding halt. We have never had such a huge number of schools being forced to close with the volume of snow that fell.

And even if the schools decided to stay open, teachers struggled to get to them because of the many delays and cancellations of trains/trams and buses.

Patience and resilience were the key factors in helping everyone deal with the snow

We were and are very impressed with the way you, our teachers, handled the situations that faced you.

It was fantastic to see how calm many of you were with what you had to deal with and how well you handled what came your way without complaint.

It really showed us how resilient, patient and flexible you all are under pressure.

Patience & Flexibility to just go with the flow and handle whatever came along.]

Resilience to tough out situations when trains or schools were cancelled.

Everyone had to deal with disruptions of some sort. Even when some diehard schools remained open, teachers had many challenges to deal with.

From chaotic transport, slippery pavements, or thick snow (sometimes the whole 3) it was a credit to you to see how hard you all tried to get to the schools.

We believe at D.J.M. that:

When the going gets tough..the tough get going

This is an unprecedented time for schools, teachers and D.J.M. Never before have we had such disruptions to the working life of London.

Well done to you and how you handled all the issues and problems that resulted from the huge falls of sno
