In our own words
We are Bronwyn Ward-Manson and David Manson co-founders of DJM Personnel, a recruitment business based in London, UK, and DJM Marketplace.We came from different backgrounds and a different range of experiences. (Bron, from the desert of South Australia and a career in education and business; Dave from the ‘wilds’ of the west coast of Scotland and a career in the corporate IT world of the city of London.) We came together with a shared dream – to start our own business. For over twenty-five years we were best known for our work in recruiting high-quality staff from around the globe to teach in London schools. We had a reputation as one of the most highly regarded and successful teacher recruitment businesses in London, UK.
We believed a very simple premise:
You don’t build a business, you build the people, and the people build the business.
From the outset we focussed on the well-being of the people who worked with and for us; we listened to them, finding out what they wanted and how they wanted to work; we built a supportive community providing a sense of belonging and opportunities to share experiences and make connections.
Even though we have moved away from recruitment into full-time creating and publishing online resources, our mission and purpose remains the same. We know the essential ingredients of building and running a successful business because we built and ran a very successful business for over twenty-five years in London, UK. At our core is the belief that empowering employees is not just “fluffy,” but a strategic, profitable approach that leads to success. We know that caring for the personal and professional wellbeing of people is a sustainable business model. Being a mentor, friend, or positive influence can inspire someone to recognise their potential, providing encouragement or a new direction. Our 25+ year track record proves the company is not a startup. It has survived various economic cycles, changes in technology, and industry trends and we are still ticking along!
